Dragons Defeat Klein Collins 3-0, Take 1-0 Lead in Regional Quarterfinal

The Round Rock Dragons combined a single run in the first and two insurance runs in the sixth with outstanding pitching from Grant Miller to a 3-0 win over Klein Collins, taking a 1-0 lead in the 6A Region 2 Quarterfinal. Due to possible bad weather on Saturday the two teams will meet Friday at 5:00pm in Mumford for Game 2. A Game 3 if necessary would be 30 minutes after Game 2. The win moved the Dragons record to 26-6 and another win would match them up with the Rockwall Heath-The Woodlands HS winner in the Region 2 Semifinal.

Dragons to Face Klein Collins in Third Round, Region 2 Quarter-Final

Thanks to 9-2 and 11-1 wins over Houston Memorial on Friday May 11, the Dragons eliminated the Houston Memorial Mustangs and will face Klein Collins in a 6A Region 2 Quarter-final. The 13-6A Co-Champion Dragons hold a 25-6 record, while the Klein Collins Tigers, Champions of 15-6A currently have a record of 22-7. The two teams will face off in Mumford, with games set for 7PM on Thursday and Friday, with a third game Saturday at 11AM if necessary. 11-1 Win Moves Round Rock Dragons Into Third Round of 6A Playoffs

Round Rock jumped on Memorial early with five runs in the top of the first and cruised to a 11-1 win and advanced in the 6-A playoffs by winning Area. After Dalton Watts walked, Jake Miller singled to right, advancing Watts to third. Both runners then scored on a double by Aidan Shepardson. Grant Miller then doubled home Shaepardson and later scored on an error by the Memorial shortstop to make the score 5-0 at the end of the top of the first. Dragons Open Area Round of Playoffs with 9-2 Win over Houston Memorial

Round Rock defeated Houston Memorial 9-2 on Friday Behind Grant Miller and Zach Perry’s solid pitching, plus Jake Miller’s three-for-four with four runs batted in at the plate. After the Mustangs opened the scoring in the top of the third with two runs, the Dragons came back and took the lead with three runs in the bottom of the frame. Dragons Knock off Akins 11-1, Advance to Area Round

After the Dragons scored in the top of the second, Akins evened things up at one in the bottom of the second inning. Round Rock took the lead for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Patrick DiLullo tripled in three runs off of Rudy Reyna, driving in three runs. DiLullo then scored on a hard-hit ball by Jordan Williams to make the score 5-1. Round Rock opened the scoring in the first as Dalton Watts led off with a walk, advanced to third after Jake Miller reached on a misplayed bunt. Aiden Shepardson then walked to set up a 3-run double by Grant Miller that cleared the bases and put the Dragons up 3-0. Round Rock will open the 2017 playoffs versus the Austin Akins Eagles on Friday May 5 at 7:00pm at Dragon Diamond. Game 2 will be Saturday at 3:30pm at the Toney Burger Center, located at 3200 Jones Road, Austin, Texas. Game 3 (if necessary) would be 30 minutes after Game 2. Round Rock earned a share of the District 13-6A title with a  8-1 win over the McNeil Mavericks, paired with a 1-0 Pflugerville win over Hendrickson.
