John Carter – Varsity Head Coach

Coach John Carter is a graduate of Round Rock High School and attended Round Rock schools while growing up. Upon graduation from high school, Coach Carter attended Texas Tech, where he played both football and baseball. After his playing days ended, he remained at Tech as a graduate assistant from 1992 – 1994. He continued his coaching career at Killeen Ellison 1994-1995 coaching football and baseball. He finally returned home and has been at Round Rock since 1995, coaching multiple sports including softball, soccer, football, and baseball. Some of his favorites include: Johnny Bench (pro-athlete), Smokey and the Bandit (movie), Hunting & Fishing, playing golf, listening to country music, Mexican food, and spending time with family. Coach Carter teaches 10th grade World History and is active in campus leadership. Teaching more than just the game and making personal connections with the players are important aspects of coaching to him. Coach Carter serves as the U.I.L. Representative of the Board for the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association and is an active member of Central Baptist Church of Round Rock. Coach Carter earned a Masters in Sports Administration as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Texas Tech University. John and Seleta, a Math teacher at Walsh Middle School, have been married for 16 years have twin sons, John (8) and Mark (8).

Reynaldo Rodriguez – Varsity Asst/Pitching Coach

Coach Rodriguez was born in Austin Texas and was raised and graduated high school in Eagle Pass Texas. He graduated from Huston-Tillotson College in 2001. Rey spent his first 9 years (2003-2012) coaching at Round Rock High School (football/baseball), the next 3 years (2012-2015) at Manor High School (football/baseball) and started in 2015 back at Round Rock High School (2015). He believes in having a positive impact on people and teaching/coaching them on what he loves to do. Rey and his wife Cathy have 2 boys: Isaac (11) and Omar (9).

Colby Elizondo – JV Maroon Head Coach

Coach Elizondo was born in Temple, Texas. He graduated from Temple High School in 1987 and then from the University of Texas in 1995. His coaching experience includes Travis Middle School 1995-2000, Cedar Park High School 2000-2005, Salado High School 2006-2007, Temple High School 2008-2011 and Round Rock High School from 2011 to present. He has two daughters Logan Raye 20, and Evan Ann 18. Married to Kimberly Elizondo. 

Brian Solemsaas- JV White Head Coach

Coach Solemsaas grew up in Bismarck, ND where he won a state championship in football (2001), baseball (2003), and track (2004). Upon graduation he attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, IA from 2004-2009, and was a shortstop and an All-Conference pitcher (2008) for Peacocks. After his playing days were over Coach Solemsaas received his Masters of Science in Education from Southern Illinois University (2009-2011) where he was a Graduate Manager for the baseball team. From there he started his coaching career having stops at Clarke University (2011-12), Wayne State College (2012-13), Northwest Nazarene University (2013-15), John A Logan College (2016), Arkansas State University (2016-17), and Southeastern Oklahoma State University (2017-18). He’s also coached for Major League Baseball in China (2015), and managed the Battle Creek Bombers in the Northwoods League (2016-17), taking them to the playoffs both seasons, and the Championship series in 2017. Over the last 2 years he has served as a Volunteer Assistant, but will now serve as the JV White coach. He lives in Austin with his girlfriend Roxanne and her two kids Julian (14) and Alana (10).
