Dragons Knock Off Hendrickson 7-3 The Round Rock Dragons took the nightcap Friday night 7-3, giving the Dragons a 2-1 series win over the Hawks. Hendrickson opened the scoring with a run in the top of the first and led until the Dragons took the lead for good, scoring four runs in the in the bottom of the fourth. Bush Throws Shutout to Even Series With Hendrickson Cameron Bush shut down Hendrickson, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Round Rock Dragons Varsity to a 1-0 victory on Friday night. The win evened the District 13-6A series at one apiece. Bush scattered four hits over seven innings while striking out four and walking none. The Round Rock Dragons advanced to their fourth Regional Final and first since 2003 after a 2-Game sweep of Rockwall Heath. Standing in the way of a trip to Dell Diamond are their 13-6A rivals, the Hendrickson Hawks. The two teams split their district matchups, with Hendrickson winning 4-2 at Dragon Diamond, and the Dragons winning 17-2 at Hendrickson. The Hawks earned the #1 playoff seed by knocking the Dragons off 4-2 in a seeding playoff at Stony Point.   Round Rock jumped on #1 ranked Rockwall-Heath with six runs in the first inning and cruised to a 7-0 win. The shutout was the second of the night thanks to five innings from Luke Malone and two from Grant Hurn. Grant Miller threw his second no-hitter of the season, giving the Dragons a 3-0 Game 1 win over #1 ranked Rockwall-Heath 3-0 on Friday. Miller induced the final out on a ground ball to second baseman Dalton Watts. Coach Carter’s 300th Career Win Pushes Round Rock into 6A Region 2 Semi-final

In an amazing Game 3, the Dragons scored three runs in the seventh inning and shut down a Klein Collins rally in the bottom of the inning to eliminate the Tigers. The win advanced the Dragons to the 6A Region 2 Semi-final versus the winner of Rockwall Heath and The Woodlands High School. Luke Malone threw a gem in Game 2 but the Tigers scratched out a run in the bottom of the 9th to force a deciding game 3 in a Region 2 Quarterfinal Friday afternoon. After Klein Collins took the lead in the fourth, the Dragons tied the game with a single run in the sixth. Dragons Defeat Klein Collins 3-0, Take 1-0 Lead in Regional Quarterfinal

The Round Rock Dragons combined a single run in the first and two insurance runs in the sixth with outstanding pitching from Grant Miller to a 3-0 win over Klein Collins, taking a 1-0 lead in the 6A Region 2 Quarterfinal. Due to possible bad weather on Saturday the two teams will meet Friday at 5:00pm in Mumford for Game 2. A Game 3 if necessary would be 30 minutes after Game 2. The win moved the Dragons record to 26-6 and another win would match them up with the Rockwall Heath-The Woodlands HS winner in the Region 2 Semifinal.

Dragons to Face Klein Collins in Third Round, Region 2 Quarter-Final

Thanks to 9-2 and 11-1 wins over Houston Memorial on Friday May 11, the Dragons eliminated the Houston Memorial Mustangs and will face Klein Collins in a 6A Region 2 Quarter-final. The 13-6A Co-Champion Dragons hold a 25-6 record, while the Klein Collins Tigers, Champions of 15-6A currently have a record of 22-7. The two teams will face off in Mumford, with games set for 7PM on Thursday and Friday, with a third game Saturday at 11AM if necessary.
