Dragons to Battle Hendrickson with Trip to Dell Diamond at Stake

The Round Rock Dragons advanced to their fourth Regional Final and first since 2003 after a 2-Game sweep of Rockwall Heath. Standing in the way of a trip to Dell Diamond are their 13-6A rivals, the Hendrickson Hawks. The two teams split their district matchups, with Hendrickson winning 4-2 at Dragon Diamond, and the Dragons winning 17-2 at Hendrickson. The Hawks earned the #1 playoff seed by knocking the Dragons off 4-2 in a seeding playoff at Stony Point. Dragons Rout Heath 7-0 In Nightcap, Advance to Regional Final

  Round Rock jumped on #1 ranked Rockwall-Heath with six runs in the first inning and cruised to a 7-0 win. The shutout was the second of the night thanks to five innings from Luke Malone and two from Grant Hurn. Hurn induced a popup to second baseman Dalton Watss to end the game and advance to the fourth regional final in Round Rock Dragon history, and their first since 2003. Dragons Take Game 1 3-0 Behind Grant Miller’s No Hitter

Grant Miller threw his second no-hitter of the season, giving the Dragons a 3-0 Game 1 win over #1 ranked Rockwall-Heath 3-0 on Friday. Miller induced the final out on a ground ball to second baseman Dalton Watts. The Dragons opened the scoring in the third, with one out Mitch Herring singled for the first Dragon baserunner, then advanced to third on Jordan Williams’s double to left field. Coach Carter’s 300th Career Win Pushes Round Rock into 6A Region 2 Semi-final

In an amazing Game 3, the Dragons scored three runs in the seventh inning and shut down a Klein Collins rally in the bottom of the inning to eliminate the Tigers. The win advanced the Dragons to the 6A Region 2 Semi-final versus the winner of Rockwall Heath and The Woodlands High School. In 2016 the Tigers eliminated the Dragons in a very tight Area-Round matchup. The win by the Dragons was Coach John Carter’s 300th career win, all at Round Rock, his alma mater. Gutsy Performance by Malone Not Enough as Dragons Fall 2-1 In Game 2

Luke Malone threw a gem in Game 2 but the Tigers scratched out a run in the bottom of the 9th to force a deciding game 3 in a Region 2 Quarterfinal Friday afternoon. After Klein Collins took the lead in the fourth, the Dragons tied the game with a single run in the sixth.
